Signal modes#
50 Midline Cross produces a bullish event when RSI moves from at or below 50 to above 50, and a bearish event when it moves from at or above 50 to below 50.
Threshold Reversal produces a bullish event when RSI rises back above the oversold threshold, and a bearish event when it falls back below the overbought threshold. Merely being in an extreme zone is not that reversal event.
Settings#
| Field | Observed form fallback | Form range |
|---|---|---|
| RSI Period | 14 | At least 2 |
| Signal Mode | 50 Midline Cross | Midline or Threshold Reversal |
| Oversold Threshold | 30 | 1–49, shown for reversal mode |
| Overbought Threshold | 70 | 51–99, shown for reversal mode |
The calculation uses Wilder smoothing. The first RSI value needs period plus one closes; an event comparison needs a previous and current RSI value.
Example#
With an oversold threshold of 30, moving from 28 to 31 meets the bullish reversal condition. Moving from 25 to 28 does not cross back above 30.
This illustrates the condition only. It does not recommend a trade.
Execution and exits#
Complete the order, risk, and schedule steps. A valid RSI event can still be blocked by an entry limit, unavailable contract, or mode restriction. Use the monitor to identify which stage was reached.
