Connect Angel One

Angel One works like HDFC SKY: you create your own SmartAPI app on Angel One, register SSAlgo's dedicated IP on it, and save its API key in SSAlgo. You log in on Angel One's own page. SSAlgo never asks for your PIN, password or TOTP.

Before you begin#

Open Broker settings, find Angel One and choose Connect Angel One. The setup panel shows your dedicated static IP. Once you save your API key, it also shows your personal Redirect URL. Use only the values shown in your own account.

Create your SmartAPI app#

  1. In SSAlgo's Angel One panel, choose Get my dedicated IP if no IP is shown yet, and copy it.
  2. Sign in at smartapi.angelone.in and open My Profile → My APIs.
  3. Create an app of type Trading APIs. Enter your dedicated IP as the Primary Static IP.
  4. For the redirect URL, enter any placeholder for now; you will replace it in step 6.
  5. Copy the app's API key into SSAlgo and choose Save credentials.
  6. SSAlgo now shows your personal Redirect URL. Copy it into your SmartAPI app's redirect URL setting and save the app.

Angel One lets you change an app's static IP at most once a week, so enter the dedicated IP exactly as shown.

Connect#

  1. Choose Continue to Angel One (or Connect Angel One).
  2. Log in on Angel One's page with your client code, PIN and TOTP.
  3. On return, check the status and run Health check.

Log in again each trading day: Angel One sessions end at midnight. See reconnection and expired sessions.

What a connected status means#

It records authentication. It does not confirm order permissions, contract availability, quote readiness, or successful execution for a strategy.

Angel One checks your static IP only when an order is placed, so a passing health check does not prove the IP is registered. Your first order does.

Algo orders cannot be market or IOC orders on Angel One; SSAlgo sends protected limit orders automatically. MCX orders through Angel One are not enabled yet.

Common setup issues#

  • Login rejected: check the API key with Edit credentials. It must be the key of the app whose redirect URL you set.
  • IP rejected: the Primary Static IP on your app must be exactly the dedicated IP SSAlgo shows.
  • Login didn't complete: the redirect URL in your SmartAPI app must match the one SSAlgo shows, character for character.
  • Different account: SSAlgo links one Angel One account per user. To link another one, remove the saved credentials first.
